On the 75th Anniversary of Kristallnacht, ADL Co-Sponsors Commemorative Concert

  • November 13, 2013

Over 650 people joined together to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, at an event co-sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League. Har Zion Temple hosted the commemoration on November 10th, which was also co-sponsored by the Consortium of Holocaust Educators of Greater Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Holocaust Education Council and the Holocaust Awareness Museum and Education Center.

Kristallnacht was a coordinated attack against Jews throughout Nazi Germany and Austria on 9–10 November 1938, which portended the impending horrors of the Holocaust. The evening’s commemoration featured a procession of clergy from multiple faith traditions, followed by a performance of “Stars in the Dust,” a cantata for chamber orchestra, chorus, soloists and narrator composed by Samuel Adler with a libretto by Cantor Samuel Rosenbaum.
