Andy Kaplin, Co-Chair of ADL’s Next Generation Leadership initiative and Executive Committee member, was honored on April 27, 2014 with the Daniel R. Ginsberg Leadership Award at ADL’s National Leadership Summit in Washington, DC. Kaplin joined 14 other young professionals from the Philadelphia Region’s Glass Leadership Institute and 600 other ADL leaders from around the country to hear from some of the nation’s top policy makers, elected officials, media figures and coalition partners.
Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, said of Kaplin and the other award winners: “This group of distinguished leaders has shown a profound commitment to the goals of fighting anti-Semitism and prejudice in their communities. It is with great pride that we acknowledge their efforts and thank them for their commitment of time and energy, which greatly contribute to the success of the League’s mission of fighting anti-Semitism and prejudice in all forms.”
Speakers at the Summit included Colorado Representative Jared Polis, FBI Director James B. Comey, Israel’s Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer, Chief White House Correspondent Juliana Goldman, U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez, President and CEO of the National Constitution Center Jeffrey Rosen and many other experts on national and international subject areas.
Hundreds of Summit participants visited Capitol Hill to lobby Members of Congress to support ADL’s mission on topics such as immigration reform, preventing a nuclear Iran and strengthening laws to address bullying and cyberbullying.
Since 1995, ADL has conferred the Daniel R. Ginsberg Leadership Award to outstanding candidates from around the country who demonstrate knowledge of, and working commitment to the policies and activities of ADL, as well as those who have the ability to add to the League’s deliberations at the national level. The award, named in honor of the late Daniel R. Ginsberg, a former New York Regional Board Chairman and ADL National Commissioner, is generously endowed by his friends and family.
