As a leader in the fight against prejudice and discrimination, the Anti-Defamation League was invited to share its 100+ years of expertise in combating hate with a delegation of Iraqi civic and religious leaders. On September 3, 2014, the group, sponsored by the United States Department of State as part of the International Visitor Leadership Program, visited Philadelphia to meet with ADL and other community leaders in civil rights and human relations.
ADL staff highlighted the organization’s innovative education, community relations, and advocacy efforts in the region. The delegation heard about ADL’s investigative research work, and the League’s role in passing the 2009 Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act. They also learned about the organization’s educational philosophy and the A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute and No Place for Hate® programs.
The cohort and ADL staff were joined by ADL Board leaders, who spoke about the league’s efforts in promoting interfaith dialogue, challenging anti-Semitism, and combating racism and all forms of bigotry.
The Anti-Defamation League is one of the nation’s premier civil rights/human relations agencies fighting anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry, defending democratic ideals and protecting civil rights for all.
