Abraham Foxman, National Director of the Anti-Defamation League and world-renowned expert on Anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry, spoke to over 200 community members at Congregation Beth Israel in Northfield, New Jersey on Tuesday, March 25th. Mr. Foxman, who recently announced that he will retire in July 2015 after 50 years at the Anti-Defamation League, has been National Director of the organization since 1987. He spoke about historical and modern-day Anti-Semitism, Israel, and cyberhate.
Born in Poland in 1940, Mr. Foxman was saved from the Holocaust by his Polish Catholic nursemaid who baptized and raised him as a Catholic during the war years. His parents survived the war, but 14 members of his family were lost. He has authored a number of books, most recently Viral Hate: Containing Its Spread on the Internet, and has earned dozens of awards and honorary degrees for his tireless efforts to combat hate around the world.
