Landmark ceremony set for Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington
WILMINGTON, February 20, 2017 – Jim Gardner, who this June will mark 41 years as a reporter and anchor on 6abc’s Action News at 6 and 11 p.m., will serve as master of ceremonies at the inaugural Anti-Defamation League Beau Biden SHIELD Award presentation, set for 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 29.
His appearance will spotlight the event, which will pay tribute to the first winners of the award, established early this year by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) to honor the late Delaware Attorney General Joseph R. “Beau” Biden, III.
Local, state and federal officers will be recognized for their contributions toward protecting the American people from hate crimes, extremism, and domestic and international terrorism, and for protecting civil rights.
Gardner has helped guide viewers of Action News through every news event, large and small since 1976. Although he was born, raised and educated in New York City, Gardner has lived most of his adult life in the region, and he is honored to support this event.
The Anti-Defamation League has made the tickets available, free of charge, for the event, which has been sanctioned by the Beau Biden Foundation. Members of the Foundation, SHIELD Award recipients, as well as community leaders and attendees will enjoy a reception ahead of the award presentations, which will begin at 6:00 p.m. Less than 100 tickets remain, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Further information is available by contacting ADL at 215-568-2223.
ADL is the foremost non-governmental organization in the United States training law enforcement on terrorism, extremism, and hate crimes. In the past 10 years, ADL has trained well over 100,000 federal, state, local and military law enforcement officers.
