The Black-Jewish Alliance of the ADL was formed in 2017 to galvanize Black communities and Jewish communities to fight racism, antisemitism and all forms of hate in the Philadelphia region.

Building upon the communities’ shared histories of tragedy and triumph in the face of bigotry, the Black-Jewish Alliance of the ADL works tirelessly to create a region and a world without bias, prejudice and hate.

Initiatives

Sharing Our Stories; Sharing Ourselves

“Sharing Our Stories; Sharing Ourselves” is an interactive program that seeks to foster dialogue across differences. Through this program, we hope to help build a foundation that participants can use to create stronger relationships between diverse communities.

The Black-Jewish Alliance of the ADL is looking for Black Churches/Organizations and Jewish Synagogues/Organizations to co-partner and host “Sharing Our Stories; Sharing Ourselves.”  If you know of an organization that might be interested in this program, please email philly-bja@adl.org .

Breaking Bread, Breaking Barriers

“Breaking Bread, Breaking Barriers” aims to build bridges and strengthen relationships between members of our community who identify as Black and/or Jewish.

This three-session program was held in September 2022 and brought together local leadership from faith-based institutions, the media, higher education and other participants together to build new partnerships through shared meals and facilitated conversations about individual experiences with bias, issues facing our communities, and collaborative action planning.

ADL thanks its partners in this program: Reading Terminal Market and Knight Foundation Fellow Anuj Gupta.
