Today the Black Jewish Alliance of the ADL released the following statement:
As members of the Black Jewish Alliance of the Anti-Defamation League, we strongly condemn the racist flyers placed on cars on South Street and in the surrounding South Philadelphia neighborhoods over the weekend. The hateful and racist sentiments of these fliers have no place in our city. We deplore his cowardly act of intimidation. South Street is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the city, with people of all races, religions, and nationalities living, working and visiting the area. South Street is a microcosm of the growing diversity of our country and is a place where a richness of cultures and religions should be celebrated and where there is no tolerance for intolerance.
The Black Jewish Alliance of the ADL was created to restore collaboration in the fight against racism and anti-Semitism in the Greater Philadelphia region.
ADL is a leading anti-hate organization. Founded in 1913 in response to an escalating climate of anti-Semitism and bigotry, its timeless mission is to protect the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment for all. Today, ADL continues to fight all forms of hate with the same vigor and passion. ADL is the first call when acts of anti-Semitism occur. A global leader in exposing extremism, delivering anti-bias education and fighting hate online, ADL’s ultimate goal is a world in which no group or individual suffers from bias, discrimination or hate.
